reading your horoscope in the morning IMO. Or maybe a better example would be economists predicting an upcoming recession so people hoard money and stop spending, which leads to.... a recession.
I've been hearing cable is on its way out for 20 years. It will go one day, eventually, but there are two things that make it still relevant:
1. Maybe it's my internet but some streaming is a pain. We watch things that either don't load, load and buffer, cut out in the middle of the program, or have pixilated pictures for much of the program. It is very frustrating, especially when trying to watch sports. I have heard for years "streaming is the future"; well if that's the future, I'll gladly go back to the past if cable companies will ever lower their prices.
2. To stream a good many things, you have to enter account information for DirecTV, Hulu, YouTubeTV, etc. and dare I say it - cable accounts. As long as that is one of the options and nothing else is more attractive, cable will have somewhat of a leg to stand on even if it is in a reduced role.
